Power Poetry is pleased to announce My Year in Poetry Scholarship Slam to a current or former high school student younger than 26 years old who will attend or is attending college within the U.S. or its territories. To be entering the contest, you must only submit a poem at scholarship slam and you can get a chance to win $1,000 scholarship. The scholarships may only be used to defray education costs at a college or graduate school of the winner’s choice.
Power Poetry is the world’s first and largest mobile poetry community for youth. It is a one-of-a-kind place where you can be heard. Power Poetry isn’t just about poetry, it’s about finding your voice and using it changes the world.
Eligibility:
- The Scholarship Sweepstakes (the “Promotion”) is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia
- You are a current or former high school student who will attend or is attending college within the U.S. or its territories
- Are younger than 26 years old as of the final date of entry
- Officers, directors, members, and employees of the Sponsor, the judging organization (if applicable), or any other party associated with the development or administration of this Promotion, and the immediate family and persons residing in the same household, as such individuals. This Promotion is void outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, and where prohibited
How to Apply:
- Each participant entering this promotion must sign up as a user on Power Poetry, and then submit a poem at scholarship slam. The link is: http://www.powerpoetry.org/user/register
- Tell in a poem what affected you this past year. What shaped this past year for you? They want to know what happened this past year that had a major impact on you. Take time to reflect. Did you have a personal epiphany? Get super into politics because of the election? Or did you discover a cause that you have a true passion for?
Financial Aid and Award Money:
There will be one (1) winner of a $1,000 scholarship. Each of the scholarships can be used at the school of the winner’s choice.

The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday, January 20, 2017.
