Whitaker Art Scholarship

The Frederic Whitaker and Eileen Monaghan Whitaker Foundation (The Whitaker Foundation) is proud to announce the next round of its nationwide Art Scholarship Program Art Scholarship Program.  Students are required to gain knowledge of the Whitakers’ works through their submitted essays or watercolor paintings by the application process. Three scholarships will be given to the deserving candidates.

The Whitaker Foundation intends to support art students with a special emphasis on watercolor and museum studies and to help them meet the diverse needs of today’s professional art and museum world.


To be considered for scholarship, the candidates:

  • Must be an undergraduate student at a national accredited degree granting institution working
    towards a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, Art History or Museum Studies
  • Must be a student in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be an American Citizen (with an American passport) or a legal resident (with a green card) of the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of entry

Supporting Documents:

  • Applicants will be required to submit an official transcript should they be selected for the scholarship
  • All bachelors of fine art applicants must submit images of two original watercolor paintings. All watercolor paintings must be painted after January 1st 2014 and the images of them sent to thewhitakerfoundation-at-gmail.com
  • All art history and all museum studies applicants must submit an essay on the following topic:

Write a personal statement (approximately 500 words). Please include in your statement your educational objectives and career goals. You may also include additional information about your extra-curricular activities, achievements, interests and financial need.

Award Amount:

Three scholarships are being offered: ·

  • Two (2) $2,000 Bachelor of Fine Art scholarships (watercolor emphasis)
  • One (1) $2,000 Bachelor of Art in Art History or Museum Studies scholarship
