University of Central Florida ICCAE Study Abroad Scholarship

The main goal of the University of Central Florida Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (UCF ICCAE) is to prepare students—by enhancing the critical skills and knowledge deemed essential by the intelligence community—for careers in national security and intelligence. Hence theIC CAE is pleased to announce the IC CAE Study Abroad Scholarship to assists undergraduate and graduate students in developing critical skills needed for future work in the intelligence community.  The program helps educate students in the areas of intelligence & national security and provides opportunities for creating connections with current members of the intelligence community. The merit-based scholarship will be awarded up to $3,000 for undergraduate students and up to $8,000 for graduate research.

The Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (IC CAE) is funded by a grant from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) based upon a Congressional mandate. The goal of this Center is to create educational opportunities for students interested in careers in intelligence and national security and to increase the number and quality of applicants in these areas.

Eligibility:

To eligible, the applicant must meet all the following criteria:

Undergraduate-

  • Have a 3.0 overall GPA or higher
  • Be a current degree-seeking undergraduate student at UCF
  • Complete the UCF Study Abroad Office’s Student Travel Registry
  • Show that they are engaging in course work that is relevant to a future career in intelligence or national security
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • The IC CAE undergraduate scholarship is open to many different fields and courses of study, but the student’s course work should reflect material that will enhance his or her knowledge and skills in areas that are beneficial to a career in intelligence and national security.

Graduate

  • Have a 3.5 graduate GPA or higher
  • Be a current degree-seeking graduate student at UCF
  • Show that they are engaging in research work that is relevant to a future career in intelligence or national security
  • Complete the UCF Study Abroad Office’s Student Travel Registry
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • The IC CAE graduate scholarships are intended for students to conduct field work pertaining to their M.A. thesis or D. dissertation. Research must be related to topics of interest to intelligence and national security, broadly construed.

Supporting Documents:

Undergraduate-

  • A personal statement of no more than 200 words explaining how your study abroad program will enhance your career goals in intelligence and national security
  • A resume or CV

Graduate

  • A personal statement of no more than 200 words explaining how your study abroad program will enhance your career goals in intelligence and national security
  • A research proposal of up to 500 words explaining your research and how it is relevant to intelligence and national security
  • A resume or CV

Submitting Details:

The applicant must email completed application and required documents to ICCAE-at-ucf.edu.

Financial Aid and Award Money:

  • Undergraduate Scholarship – Scholarship awards are expected to be up to $3,000 and will be awarded competitively to undergraduate students who are interested in these areas.
  • Graduate Scholarship – Scholarships are awarded for amounts of up to $8,000 and will be awarded competitively.Under some circumstances, the funds may be used for other research projects, such as papers for a conference or a journal article submission.
