At United Negro College Fund (UNCF), the UNCF/Google DCPS STEM Scholarship Fund has decided to provide two 2 scholarships to students who have a demonstrated unmet, financial need.The program is open to graduating high school seniors attending Technical Education STEAM program or planning to pursue a STEM, CS or IT-related degree at any accredited four-year institution.UNCF’s mission is to build a robust and nationally-recognized pipeline of under-represented students. The winners will receive a renewable award of up to $3,375.00 for 4 years beginning during the 2017-2018
The United Negro College Fund, or UNCF, is an American philanthropic organization that funds scholarships for black students and general scholarship funds for 39 private historically black colleges and universities.UNCF is the nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority students.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for UNCF/Google DCPS STEM Scholarship opportunity you must:
- Be a graduating high school senior attending a District of Columbia Public School (‘DCPS”) High School
- Be a member of a DCPS Career and Technical Education STEAM program or club as verified by DCPS
- Be planning to pursue a STEM, CS or IT-related degree at any accredited four-year institution
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”) form
- Have a demonstrated unmet, financial need
- S. Citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident, District of Columbia
- The applicant must enroll in computer science, engineering, mathematics, science, science technology, technology
To renew the scholarship you must:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Be enrolled at an accredited, four-year institution and continuing to pursue a STEM, CS or IT-related degree
- Continued demonstrated unmet financial need as verified by college/university

Supporting Documents:
- One-page essay about the significant factors that influenced his/her decision to pursue a career in a STEM field
- Confirmation of membership in a DCPS Career and Technical STEAM program or club
- Current transcript
- One (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher in an STEM-related area
Financial Aid and Award Money:
The scholarship opportunity will provide a renewable award of up to $3,375.00 for 4 years beginning during the 2017-2018 academic school year

The application submission must be submitted no later than July 7, 2017, at 11:59 PM EST.
