The Engebretson Scholarship

The Engebretson Foundation is in the process of seeking a high school senior to receive a one-year scholarship named as the “EngebretsonScholarship”. Graduating high school seniors who have need of financial assistance in order to attend a four-year college are eligible to apply. The scholarships are intended to those who are recognized for their academic achievements and leadership ability.Winners of the Engebretson Scholarship will receive a one-year $5,000 per semester scholarship by the Engebretson Foundation.

The Engebretson Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2006 by the family of the late David J. Engebretson. David J. Engebretson, a native of South Dakota, was a prominent business man who always held children close at heart. Mr. Engebretson had a dream, a dream to “Always Give Back.”

Eligibility:

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a graduating senior in high school
  • Plan to attend a four-year college
  • Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend a four-year college
  • Have achieved a score of 28 composite or higher on the ACT exam (or at least 1240 on the SAT)
  • Have achieved at least a 3.75 GPA or above and/or top 5% of graduating class
  • Have applied for federal financial aid and have already received back the Student Aid Report that contains your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), see Filing for FAFSA

Financial Aid and Award Money:

The Engebretson Foundation Scholarship is awarded yearly to a graduating high school senior. The amount of this scholarship will be $5,000.00 per semester to be used for college tuition costs. The person receiving the scholarship will have the opportunity to reapply each year.

Application Deadline:

The annual application must be postmarked and arrive prior to May 1, 2017: to be considered. Only one envelope with the completed application will be considered per applicant
