The Dream US Scholarship

TheDream.US provides college scholarships to highly motivated Dreamers who want to get a college education but cannot afford it. The scholarship is available to high school seniors or high school graduates who demonstrate financial need, first-time college students and seek to earn a career-ready associate’s or bachelor’s degree at one of their Partner Colleges. The scholarships are intended for those who have demonstrated significant unmet financial need and the determination to succeed in college and in life. The scholarship award is a maximum of $12,500 for an associate’s degree and $25,000 for a bachelor’s degree.

The mission of TheDream.US is to support DREAMers college access and success through a scholarship to Partner Colleges that are committed to their success and advocacy for tuition and aid equity.

Eligibility:

Eligibility for First-Time College Students:

  • Graduate from high school or earn your GED diploma by the end of the 2016-2017 academic year or have already graduated or earned your GED diploma
  • Have earned a high school un-weighted GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or an equivalent GED score)
  • Not be enrolled in college in the 2016-2017 academic year (except in a high school pre-college or dual enrollment program)
  • Intend to enroll full-time in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at one of TheDream.US Partner Colleges within one year of receiving the Scholarship
  • Be eligible for in-state tuition if seeking to attend a Partner College that is a public institution
  • Have come to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday
  • Be DACA or TPS eligible and have applied for or received DACA or TPS approval and
  • Demonstrate significant unmet financial need.

Eligibility for Community College Graduates:

  • Earn an associate’s degree from an accredited community college by the end of the 2016-2017 academic year or have already earned your associate’s degree from an accredited community college
  • Have earned a college GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
  • Not have yet enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program
  • Intend to enroll full-time in a bachelor’s degree program at one of TheDream.US Partner Colleges in the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Be eligible for in-state tuition if seeking to attend a Partner College that is a public institution
  • Have come to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday
  • Be DACA or TPS eligible and have applied for or received DACA or TPS approval and
  • Demonstrate significant unmet financial need

How to Apply:

For applying the scholarship, the candidates must login themselves.  The scholarship round will open on November 15, 2016.

Supporting Documents:

  • DACA or TPS application or approval
  • Financial Documents (if available):
  1. A copy of the first two pages of your parents’ most recently filed IRS Form 1040, if available Or
  2.  If you are financially independent, provide a copy of the first two pages of your most recently filed IRS Form 1040, if available Or
  3. Other financial documents that will verify your income.
  • Transcripts:
  1. For first-time college students, a copy of your official high school transcript or GED diploma and test scores and information detailing your previously earned college credits (if applicable).
  2. For community college graduates, a copy of your official Community College transcript.

Award Amount:

The Scholarship is intended to cover a significant portion of your tuition and fees up to a maximum of $12,500 for an associate’s degree and $25,000 for a bachelor’s degree.

Application Deadline:

Your application and supporting documents must be submitted by March 8th, 2017, by 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time.
