The Department of English of Ohio State University is very excited to announce the inaugural R.L. Stine Scholarship. This undergraduate scholarship is open for Ohio State English majors who have demonstrated a serious interest in Creative Writing. The selected student will receive a scholarship of $11,000 that can be used for tuition fees, room board and other educational expenses of the student.
The scholarship has been generously provided by author R.L. Stine. He is an OSU English alumnus (B.A. 1965) and award-winning author of children’s horror stories also including the famous Goosebumps series.
Eligibility:
- Candidates must have completed at least one 4000-level creative writing workshop in the OSU Department of English.
- Preference will be given to English majors entering their junior or senior year who have demonstrated a serious interest in creative writing
How to Apply:
For applying the scholarship, the candidates submit an application packet that consist of
- A cover sheet with the student’s name and complete contact information
- A list of any creative writing courses taken at OSU
- A writing sample in the genre(s) of the student’s choice—poetry, fiction, and/or creative nonfiction—of no fewer than 15 and no more than 40 pages.

Award Amount:
The student who will be selected will receive a scholarship of $11,000 amount.
Application Deadline:
The complete application packet must be submitted no later than August 3, 2015 for consideration for the scholarship for 2015-2016.
