Potomac Technical Processing Librarians Scholarship

Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL) is announcing a scholarship program termed as “PTPL Scholarship”. Students living or working in the PTPL membership region (DC, Maryland, Virginia) and who are currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited Library and/or Information Science program are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The purpose of PTPL is to promote innovation in the face of change in the library to vote, run for office, and to share in the benefits afforded by PTPL’s objectives. There are two scholarships available up to $1,000 each.

Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL) is a professional organization for technical services librarians in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, which meets annually in the fall of the year. PTPL is a regional affiliate of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), and a member of the ALCTS Affiliate Relations Committee (ARC).

Eligibility:

You are encouraged to apply if you are:

  • A  full or part-time student in an ALA-accredited Library and/or Information Science at the Master’s level at the time of the award and have completed at least one three-hour credit course
  • Demonstrate an interest in library technical services through employment, the course of study, or research interests.
  • Be employed or living in the PTPL membership region (Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia).

Supporting Documents:

Submit the following information as part of their package:

  • Two written references
  • Current resume
  • One page, double-spaced statement of the applicant’s interest in library technical services

Financial Aid and Award Money:

Recipients receive $1,000 each toward their educational expenses, a free one-year membership in PTPL.
