Nordson BUILDS Scholarship Program

The mission of the Nordson BUILDS is to attract and develop a diverse, highly-skilled talent pool for careers in the manufacturing industry. Hence the Nordson Corporation has partnered with OFIC’s Scholarship Management Resources (SMR) to provide three different college scholarship programs.The programs are open to high-school senior or current college student who are pursuing a major in manufacturing, STEM, or business disciplines, and demonstrate how their area of study prepares them for a career in manufacturing. The mission of Nordson BUILDS is to help the students with unmet financial need access and complete postsecondary education by lessening the financial burden on students and their families. Scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 will be awarded to winning candidates.

The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges was founded in 1950 to conduct annual solicitations of companies and foundations to benefit private colleges in Ohio.Nordson Corporation was founded in 1954 in Amherst, Ohio by brothers Eric and Evan Nord.

Eligibility:

To be considered, applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be eligible to receive a Nordson BUILDS Scholarship.
  • Students who are planning to enroll or already enrolled in an accredited public or private not-for-profit postsecondary institution are eligible to apply.
  • These scholarships are targeted at individuals whose permanent residence or postsecondary institution is near a Nordson facility and/or attend a college targeted by Nordson for employment.
  • Career & Technical Scholarship (CTS) –
  1. Applicants must be a high-school senior or current college student with a minimum 2.7 GPA
  2. Preferred programs of study include Engineering, including Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial and Software, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Machining, and Manufacturing Operations.
  • University Scholars Scholarship (USS) –
  1. Applicants must be a high-school senior or current college student with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  2. Preferred programs of study include Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Industrial Management, Information Technology, and engineering-related STEM majors leading to a career in the industry.
  • Creating Equity in Industry Scholarship (CEIS) –
  1. Applicants must be a high-school senior or college student from one of the underrepresented groups mentioned and have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  2. Preferred programs of study include Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Industrial Management, Information Technology, and engineering-related STEM majors leading to a career in the industry.

Supporting Documents:

  • The online application including upload of your academic transcript, one letter of recommendation, and a copy of your 2017-18 student financial aid award letter or Student Aid Report (SAR).
  • Nordson BUILDS Scholars applying for renewal of their current scholarship they need to also upload a copy of their resume

Financial Aid and Award Money:

  • Scholarship recipients will be considered for available internship opportunities with Nordson Corporation.
  • Scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 will be awarded to students planning to enroll or already enrolled in an accredited public or private not-for-profit postsecondary institution.
  • Award funds will be distributed directly to the scholars’ institutions at the end of July 2017.

Application Deadline:

  • The Nordson BUILDS scholarship application is available online between January 15 and May 15 each year. The application deadline to apply is May 15, 2017.
  • All applicants will be notified of the final results by June 30, 2017, via mail.
