The National Potato Council (NPC) is pleased to announce the NPC Scholarship Award to a graduate student with a strong interest in research that can directly benefit the potato industry. The scholarship is open to honor graduate students (Master’s degree or higher) who are working to improve the future of the U.S. potato industry. NPC has been highly successful in representing the various interests of U.S. potato producers. By NPC one scholarship award of $10,000 amount will be given to the winning candidate.
The National Potato Council was formed in 1948 for the 45,000 U.S. potato growers. Currently located in Washington, D.C., NPC was organized to promote the greater consumption of Irish potatoes and to nationally represent potato farmers on legislative and regulatory matters.
Eligibility:
Graduate-level students (Master’s degree or higher) who are working to improve the future of the U.S. potato industry

Supporting Documents:
- Explain in 200 words or less how your goals and ambitions qualify you for this scholarship. Specify your graduate program and demonstrate how your research will benefit the U.S. potato industry.
- Include official transcripts of your undergraduate and graduate work, if any, with cumulative grade point average. Include a resume if available.
- If applicable, attach a list of activities which demonstrate citizenship, service to society and leadership qualities. Note level of participation and/or offices held.
- Attach a list of the names and contact information for two adults that may be contacted as references should you become a finalist.

Financial Aid and Award Money:
- Each year, NPC awards a $10,000 academic scholarship to one graduate-level student conducting research for the benefit of the potato industry.
- The winner is selected based on a number of criteria, including academic achievement, leadership abilities, and potato-related areas of graduate study, the benefit to the U.S. potato industry/commercial value, extracurricular activities, and grades.
