Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund

If you want to full-time study at an accredited institution, then you are lucky! The New York Chapter of the American Logistics Association is offering “Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund” for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. The annual program is open to assist children of select active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired members of the United States military who plan to continue their education in college. The mission of the Association is to promote, protect, and enhance the military resale and quality of life benefits on behalf of our members and the military community. The winning candidates will receive a one-time award up to $5,000.

The American Logistics Association (ALA) is a modern, best practice trade association that is a critical supporter and tireless advocate promoting a world-class quality of life for America’s military and their families.

Eligibility:

Applicants to the Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund must:

  • Be dependent children of active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired members of the United States military who hold valid Exchange & Commissary shopping privileges at the time of application,
  • Be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll for the first time in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, and
  • Have a minimum cumulative 5-grade point average on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent, at the time of application.

Supporting Documents:

  • Complete transcript of grades
  • Grade reports are not acceptable.
  • Applicants are also required to submit a copy of the parent’s Form DD214, Statement of Service or other proof of service to verify eligibility.
  • Required to submit a personal photograph to be used in promotional materials

Financial Aid and Award Money:

  • The Military Commanders’ Scholarship Fund has awarded $450,000 in scholarships to qualified students.
  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award.
  • Provided there are qualified applicants, three awards will be given per branch of service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, coast Guard). Awards are one-time only and not renewable.
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Application Deadline:

The application must be submitted on or before February 17, 2017.

Only the first 100 applications received will be acknowledged and processed. The website will close when 100 applications are received.
