JDC Archives Fellows Program

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee is now accepting an application for its JDC Archives Fellows Program. The Distribution Committee is supported by the Jewish Federations of North America. The scholars who are engaged in graduate level, post-doctoral, or independent study, are welcome to apply. Five or six fellowships will be awarded each year to deserving scholars and stipends may be used towards travel, transportation, and living expenses.

The JDC Archives houses one of the most significant collections in the world for the study of modern Jewish history. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) was the first Jewish organization in the United States to dispense large-scale funding for international relief.

Eligibility:

  • To be considered for a fellowship, the scholars must be engaged in graduate level, post-doctoral, or independent study to conduct research in the JDC Archives, either in New York or Jerusalem.
  • Research topics in the fields of twentieth-century Jewish history, general history, and humanitarian assistance will be considered, as well as other areas of academic research covered in the JDC archival collections.

Supporting Documents:

Prepare the following and submit attachments as one zip file:

  • Current resume/CV
  • Writing samples such as published articles, photographs, or excerpts from larger works (optional)
  • In an essay that is no longer than two (2) pages, please indicate proposed area of research in the JDC Archives.

Award Amount:

Five or six fellowships will be awarded each year to deserving scholars engaged in graduate level, post-doctoral, or independent study to conduct research in the JDC Archives, either in New York or Jerusalem.

Application Deadline:

The complete application is due on January 15, 2017.
