Scholarship

The Officer Paul Edward Buckley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an individual who is committed to public service. The scholarship is open for Graduating high school students who live in Homewood. The Homewood Police Association is offering $1,000 scholarship amount to the winning candidates.

In 1920 officer PAUL EDWARD BUCKLEY was died while dedicating his life to public service and sacrifice.  The scholarship award is dedicated in his honor to the student who embodies his commitment to public service.

Eligibility:

In order to eligible for consideration for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements

  • Homewood Resident
  • United States Citizen
  • Member of your high school’s 2014-15 graduating class

How to Apply:

Applications are available 24 hours a day at the Homewood Police Department, 17950 Dixie Highway or the candidates can also download the application form. The candidates must attach the following documents along with the application form:

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from current teachers
  • Most recent grade report
  • Student Evaluation Form
  • Proof of residency
  • Verification letters from coaches/supervisors
  • 1-2 page essay on the topic: How do you feel your public service has affected the community and how do you feel these experiences will help you in the future?

Application packet can be submitted to Scholarship Applications, Homewood Police Association, attention D. McGrath, 17950 Dixie Highway, to hpa_911-at-yahoo.com or by fax to 708-206-3497.

Award Amount:

A $1,000 scholarship amount will be given to the winning candidate.

Application Deadline:

The deadline for submitting an application is June 15.
