Hollins University is pleased to announce a great opportunity to apply for the Nancy Thorp Poetry Contest. The contest awards prizes for the best poems submitted by young women who are sophomores or juniors in high school or preparatory school. Nancy Thorp Poetry Contest is designed to encourage the work of young poets. First place winner of the scholarship will receive free tuition and housing for the university’s Hollinsummer creative writing program $200 cash prize and second place winner will receive $25 cash prize Publication in Cargoes.
Hollins University is a four-year private institution of higher education located on a 475-acre campus on the border of Roanoke and Botetourt counties in the U.S. state of Virginia. Founded in 1842 as Valley Union Seminary in the historical settlement of Botetourt Springs, it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education for women in the United States.
Eligibility:
Young women who are sophomores or juniors in high school or preparatory school are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
