Florida Outdoor Writers Association (FOWA) Scholarship

Florida Outdoor Writers Association (FOWA) is glad to announce scholarship to motivate and encourage young people to enter outdoor communication fields. These scholarships are intended for students whose career goals are to communicate to the public a love and appreciation for hunting, fishing and other aspects of the outdoor experience. Preference will be given to journalism and communications majors. $1,000 scholarship award will be given to the winning candidates.

Florida Outdoor Writers Association (FOWA) was chartered in 1946. It is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) statewide paid professional communicators organization made up of outdoor communicators.

Eligibility:

FOWA Scholarships are competitive and open to students at Florida colleges and universities, or to any college student whose application is endorsed by a FOWA member or a faculty advisor.

How to Apply:

The complete application must include the following items:

  • An essay of 500 to1000 words that expresses your appreciation for the outdoor experience.
  • An up-to-date resume.
  • A letter of endorsement from a FOWA member or faculty advisor.
  • Any other supporting materials you would like to include

Award Amount:

FOWA Scholarships are $1,000 per student.

Application Deadline:

The completed application packet must be submitted by May 17, 2016.
