University of the West is proud to announce Drs. Allen and Lily Huang Student Leadership Award. The awards are open to the candidates who are admitted and enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking program. The aim of the scholarship is to recognize students who have demonstrated their leadership skills and the results of their culminated actions and accomplishments. The winning candidate will get $2,000 scholarship award.
University of the West is a private, nonprofit, non-sectarian, co-educational university offering undergraduate, graduate, and certificate, continuing education programs consistent with the educational mission of California higher education degree-granting institutions.
Eligibility:
- Candidate must be admitted and enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking program.
- Candidate must have completed at least one full semester.
- Candidate must be currently enrolled in classes at UWest.
- Candidate must be in Good Standing with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
- Candidate must have demonstrated leadership skills on campus (e.g. involvement in Student Association, on- campus and/or community service activities).
- Candidate must show commitment to ethical standards and values including kindness, honesty, compassion, joy, respect, and equanimity.

Supporting Documents:
- The candidate must submit two letters of recommendation.
- The candidate must write the 3-page essay focusing on applicant’s leadership qualities, including information on the leadership activities of the student and their impact on and off campus.
- Only complete applications providing all the requested information and documentation will be accepted.
