The Diabetes Scholars Foundation has proud to announce 2017 College Scholarships. The scholarship program is available to incoming freshmen with type 1diabetes and who are US citizens or permanent residents and seeking a higher education at an accredited four-year university, college, technical or trade school. The mission of Diabetes Scholars Foundation is to support activities related to education for and about children with diabetes. They are awarding different scholarships with award amount up to $5000.
The Diabetes Scholars Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Their vision is to empower success through education for people living with Type 1 diabetes.
Eligibility:
- High School Seniors with Type 1 diabetes seeking a higher education at an accredited four-year university, college, technical or trade school.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Financial Aid and Award Money:
The following scholarships will be awarded to students who are high school seniors and will be incoming freshmen in the fall and who have Type 1 diabetes:
- The Lilly Diabetes Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship – eleven scholarships at $5,000 each, five scholarships at $4,000 each and five scholarships at $3,000 each will be awarded to students that will be incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes
- Novo Nordisk Scholarship – four $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students that will be incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes
- Jay Cutler Athletic Scholarship – three $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to a student that will be an incoming freshman with type 1 diabetes and will be playing a competitive sport in college.
- Type 1 for 68 years so far – four $5,000 scholarships will be awarded randomly to incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes
- Sanofi – Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to students that will be incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes
- Jay Franke Scholarship – two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes and pursue an Arts Degree (music, theater, dance)
- Bradley D. Gendron Memorial Scholarship – one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes residing in Colorado
- Josh Smith Memorial Scholarship – one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes and reside in Ohio
- Nicky Randazzo Scholarship – one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes and pursuing a Business degree
