Scholarship Award

The Dan Scism Scholarship Award is named in the honour of tournament’s founder and former sports editor of The Evansville Courier. The application is open for the students and the selection of the recipient is based on academic ability, character and need, not on golfing ability. Applicants must play in the tournament the year that they are graduating.

The first scholarship award of $500 went to Ron Kirsch in 1966. Dan Scism joined the Evansville Courier in 1923 as a police reporter and became sports editor in 1925.

Eligibility:

To apply for the scholarship, the candidates must follow the given criteria:

  • The Dan Scism Scholarship Award is open to all contestants (both qualifiers and exempt players) who are graduating seniors from high school the same year the tournament is played.
  • All applicants for the Dan Scism Scholarship must compete in the city tournament the year that they are graduating

How to Apply:

The male, graduating high school seniors and participants in the Evansville Courier and Press Men’s City Golf Tournament of class 2015, who desire to be considered for the Dan Scism Scholarship Award, they must submit all information in the online application form.

Application Deadline:
