The Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship

The Guttmacher Institute is pleased to announce the Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship in the honor of Cory L. Richards.The program is available to graduate students who are planning to pursue a career in advancing public policy related to sexual and reproductive health and rights.The purpose of the program is to support full-time graduate study at an accredited institution in the United States.The winner will receive a one-time scholarship of $15,000 for graduate study.

The Guttmacher Institute was founded in 1968 as the Center for Family Planning Program Development.The Institute maintains offices in New York and Washington. The Institute’s vision is “the world in which all people are able to exercise their rights and responsibilities regarding sexual behavior and reproduction freely and with dignity.”

Eligibility:

Applicants to the Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship Program must:

  • Be entering or currently enrolled in a full-time graduate study program at an accredited institution in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Be pursuing a Masters’ degree in Public Policy or Public Health.
  • Be, planning to pursue a career in advancing public policy related to sexual and reproductive health and rights.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

As part of your application, you must upload the essay:

Essay: Summarize your qualifications for the Cory L. Richards Scholarship and how this scholarship would contribute to your educational and career objectives to advance public policy related to sexual and reproductive health and rights.  This essay must not exceed 8,000 characters in length.

Financial Aid and Award Money:

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of $15,000 (U.S.).  One (1) award will be granted each year.  Awards are not renewable.

Application Deadline:

The application must be submitted by March 31, 2017, by 11:59 p.m. (Central Standard Time).
