Cornell's Society for the Humanities Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowships

The Cornell’s Society for the Humanities is sponsoring two postdoctoral teaching-research fellowships named as Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in English & Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in History of Art. Those who have received the Ph.D. degree after September 1, 2, 12 and no later than June 30, 2018, are eligible to apply for the scholarships. SHC providing support for scholars whose work is likely to have an impact beyond the confines of a narrow disciplinary specialty.  The fellowship offers a stipend of $50,000/year.

Cornell’s Society for the Humanities was established in 1966 as one of the first humanities institutes in North America. Located in the historic home of Cornell’s first president, Andrew Dickson White, the Society brings distinguished Visiting Fellows and Cornell Faculty and Graduate Student Fellows together each year to pursue research on a broadly interdisciplinary focal theme.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for both scholarships, you must:

  • Those who have received the Ph.D. degree after September 1, 2012, and no later than June 30, 2018.
  • Applicants who do not have the Ph.D. in hand at the time of application must include a letter from the committee chair or department stating that the Ph.D. degree will be conferred before the term of the fellowship begins.
  • International applicants are welcome to apply, contingent upon visa eligibility.

  6. Course proposals for the courses the Mellon Fellow will teach while in residence at Cornell: two courses during each year of the fellowship: one lower-level course and one upper, 4000-level course and a sample syllabus for each
  7. Three letters of recommendation.

Financial Aid and Award Money:             

Two scholarship are awarded by the Society for the Humanities and each fellowship offers a stipend of $50,000/year.
