Christine Mirzayan Graduate Fellowship Program

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine” foundation is glad to announce “The Mirzayan Fellowship Program”. The program is open to graduate students, postdoctoral students, and professional school students (e.g, Master’s, JD, MD, Ph.D.). The fellowship program provides the opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the Academies in Washington, DC to learn more about science and technology policy. Fellows will receive a stipend up to $9000.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are private, nonprofit institutions that provide expert advice on some of the most pressing challenges facing the nation and the world. It works on shape sound policies, inform public opinion, and advance the pursuit of science, engineering, and medicine.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, the student must possess

  • The program is for graduate students, postdoctoral students, and professional school students (e.g, Master’s, JD, MD, Ph.D.).
  • The program is open to US citizens, US permanent residents, and non-US citizens who hold one of the following visas:
  1. F-1 students using CPT (curricular practical training)
  2. F-1 students using OPT (optional practical training)
  3. J-2 dependents
  4. J-1 students using academic training
  5. J-1 research scholars with written approval of their Responsible Officer
  6. DACA recipients
  7. Adjustment applicants, refugees, asylees, and selected other visa classes

Financial Aid and Award Money:             

  • For the 2017 session, the stipend for the 12-week program is $9,000.
  • The fellowship stipend is provided to offset living expenses during the fellowship period.
  • The stipend is paid out in one installment during the first week of the program.

Application Deadline: 

The deadline for submitting the application for the Mirzayan Fellowship is September 8, 2017.
