The William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law is delighted to announce the Baron & Budd Scholarship Program to support students who pursue access to justice. Students, who commit to working a minimum of 150 hours or 300 hours during the academic year with a non-profit organization, are eligible to apply.The scholarship program provides financial support to students who work pro bono for non-profit public interest organizations in central Texas during the school year.The Justice Center promotes equal justice through education, scholarship, and public service in the Texas Law community. The program will worth $2,500 award for one semester or $5,000 for two semesters.
The William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law was created in 2004 when the law school joined with Judge William Wayne Justice’s former law clerks and many admirers to establish it in his honor. The Justice Center is a comprehensive resource for students, faculty, alumni, and the community.
Eligibility:
- Students who commit to working a minimum of 150 hours (over one semester) or 300 hours (over two semesters) during the academic year with a non-profit organization providing legal services to underserved individuals or communities are eligible to apply.
- A scholar must work under the supervision of a licensed attorney.
- An interested student arranges an organizational sponsor for his or her proposed work before submitting an application for the scholarship.

Financial Aid and Award Money:
The 2017-2018 scholarship is $2,500 for one semester or $5,000 for two semesters.
Application Deadline:
Applications for 2017-18 full years (fall 2017 and spring 2018) are due on July 31, or August 28, 2017, and will be awarded on a rolling basis. Final decisions will be announced by August 30.
