BAGSF Scholarship Application

The lack of financial resources combined with social isolation pose a barrier to many young people who must juggle family, work, and school. That’s why Bay Area Gardeners Scholarship Foundation has begun to accept scholarship application. The BAGSF Scholarship is open to students residing in the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara. BAGSF provides financial support to low-income, underserved and underrepresented students who are pursuing a college education.

Bay Area Gardeners Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to providing financial support to students facing significant financial barriers to actualizing their college dreams.

Eligibility:

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Financial need
  • Academic achievement
  • Community involvement: between June 2015-April 30, 2016 students must complete 25 volunteer hours at one of more community organizations
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA (unweighted or weighted)
  • Reside in the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo, or Santa Clara
  • College applicants: must be enrolling or attending college in the fall 2016
  • High school applicant: must be graduating in the 2015-2016 academic year
  • Returning student applicant: (including those who did not go directly from high school to college and those who took a break before college graduation) must be enrolling or attending college in fall 2016

  • 500 Word Essay
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation
  • Most recent high school/ college transcript
  • Current individual / family Federal Tax Return
  • BAGSF Volunteer form
  • College Student: proof of enrollment for fall semester 2016 (e.g. Class schedule or enrollment/registration)
  • High School Student: Letter of acceptance from an accredited institution of higher education or vocational institution.
  • Returning Student: proof of enrollment for fall semester 2016

Award Amount:

BAGSF awards twenty scholarships of $1,500. Two of the twenty recipients who display community involvement and who excel academically will receive an additional $1,000.

Application Deadline:

The completed application packet must be submitted by Thursday, May 5, 2016 by 5:00pm.
