Artists Frame Service is proud to announce its “What is Art Scholarship” through which they will award a scholarship prize of $1,000 to an art student who best describes what art means to them. The scholarship is open to art students of all mediums, from graphic design to visual art and anything in between. The selected winner will receive a one-time $1,000 educational scholarship to be applied to qualified expenses, including graduate and undergraduate tuition, fees, books and on-campus room and board for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Artists Frame Service, the country’s largest picture framing store, has been providing Chicago with legendary service for over 35 years.
Eligibility:
- To apply for the scholarship, applicant must be a student currently enrolled at a 2-year or 4-year college or university in the United States.
- For Incoming Freshmen: Applicant must be a current student, have a cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale and have taken either the ACT or SAT test
- For Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
- Applicant must have a cumulative college grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale and be enrolled full-time at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for fall 2016.
- Applicant must use the scholarship toward undergraduate program (i.e. Graduate and Masters Programs not eligible).
- Applicants must be studying or planning to study art.
- If the applicant or the applicant’s parent/legal guardian is employed by Artists Frame Service at the time of award, the student is not eligible for the scholarship. Eligibility of finalists will be verified before winners are selected.
How to Apply:
To apply for scholarship, you must submit an answer of the question: “What is art, and what does it mean to you?” You can give your answer in one of the following ways:
- A 500+ word essay
- A visual representation in the medium of your choice (please include a short 50-100 word description to accompany the entry)

Award Amount:
Scholarship prize of $1,000 amount will be given to the winning candidate.
Application Deadline:
Your essay must be submitted by March 1, 2016. Artists Frame Service will choose and notify the winner by March 15, 2016.
