American Bar Association RPTE Student Writing Contest

The American Bar Association is giving you chance to apply for this “RPTE student writing contest”. Over the age of 18, who is currently attending an ABA-accredited law school within the United States and its possessions can participate in this contest program. The contest is intended to encourage and reward law student writings on real property, trust and estate law subjects of general and current interest. The first-place winner will receive $2,500 cash, second place winner will receive $1,500 cash, and third-place winner will receive $1,000 cash and One-year free RPTE membership.

The American Bar Association is one of the world’s largest voluntary professional organizations It is committed to doing what only a national association of attorneys can do: serving our members, improving the legal profession, eliminating bias and enhancing diversity, and advancing the rule of law throughout the United States and around the world.

Eligibility:

This writing contest is applicable for:

  • Any law school student in good standing
  • Over the age of 18, who is currently attending an ABA-accredited law school within the United States and its possessions
  • Who is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United

Financial Aid and Award Money:             

  • 1st place:
  1. $2,500 award
  2. A full-tuition scholarship to the University of Miami School of Law’s Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning OR Robert Traurig-Greenberg Traurig Graduate Program in Real Property Development for the 2017–2018 or 2018–2019 academic year.
  3. Free round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations to the RPTE Fall Leadership Meeting in Monterey, CA, October 12–14, 2017. This is an excellent meeting to network with RPTE leadership!
  4. One year free RPTE membership
  5. Consideration for publication in The Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law Journal, the Section’s law review journal, which is mailed to 20,000 RPTE members
  6. Name and essay title will be published in the eReport, the Section’s electronic newsletter
  • 2nd place: 
  1. $1,500 award
  2. One year free RPTE membership
  3. Consideration for publication inThe Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law Journal, the Section’s law review journal, which is mailed to 20,000 RPTE members
