Alzheimer's Research UK PhD Scholarship

Alzheimer’s Research UK firmly believes in the power of research to create the world free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia. That’s why they are pleased to offer Ph.D. Scholarship for individual or joint supervisors, not students. The scheme is for a full Ph.D. program and it does not cover funding gaps for students who have already started their studies. The scholarship provides a stipend of £15,000 per annum and research/travel costs for up to £10,000 per annum.

Eligibility:

• The lead applicant and point of contact must be based in a UK academic/research institution. However, the application can include researchers or institutions outside the UK.
• Ph.D. Scholarships can only be applied for by an individual or joint supervisors, not students.
• The Lead Supervisor is expected to have a contract (fixed term or tenure) which covers the proposed duration of the grant. If the Lead Applicant does not hold a tenure appointment, the application must include a co-supervisor that does.
• If the project requires ethical approval and/or Home Office licenses, the award is dependent upon the requisite approvals being granted.

Award Amount:

Ph.D. Scholarships provide a stipend of £15,000 per annum (£16,000 in London), Ph.D. tuition fees at the Home/EU rate and research/travel costs for up to £10,000 per annum or £15,000 per annum for inherently costly research.

Application Deadline:

Application deadline is October 5, 2016, and applicants will be notified of the decision by 10 February 2017.
