AISES Northrop Grumman Scholarship

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) offering “Northrop Grumman Scholarship” to supports AISES students who are currently full-time undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, or juniors studying at qualified schools. The scholarship is open to students studying Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Systems Engineering. Winning applicant of the scholarship will receive $5,000 award amount per academic year.

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a national, nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, First Nations and other indigenous peoples of North America in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) studies and careers.

Eligibility:

You are encouraged to apply if you are

  • Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering.
  • Students must be a full-time undergraduate freshman, sophomore, or junior at an accredited and qualified four-year college/university for the 2016-2017 academic year.
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA).
  • Applicants must be: an enrolled member/citizen or a descendant of an enrolled member/citizen.

How to Apply:

  • Students are required to submit 3 essays, up to 1,000 words each.  These essays are an important part of the scholarship review process.
  1. Essay Prompt 1: Please share a personal statement that highlights your background, interests, academic achievements, and what impact you hope to have in your community and/or profession.
  2. Essay Prompt 2: What stimulated your interest in your chosen major or area of study?
  3. Essay Prompt 3:  What activity or activities (cultural, community-related, occupational, academic, athletic etc.) most clearly reflect your character?  Please describe your participation.  Why is participation in this activity or these activities important to you?

Please submit the following information to be considered for the scholarship program.

  • Official Transcript(s)
  • Tribal Enrollment Verification
  • Resume
  • Photo: A headshot photo, in jpeg format.
  • Letters of Recommendation

Financial Aid and Award Money:             

The scholarship will provide $5,000 per academic year for winning candidates.

Application Deadline: 

All application must be submitted by August 25, 2017, 11:59 pm (MDT).
