The AGC Education and Research Foundation Scholarship

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Education and Research Foundation is offering undergraduate and graduate level scholarships to students enrolled in construction management and engineering programs across the country. Its aim is to provide high quality, comprehensive educational and training opportunities that are compatible to changing needs of the students. Undergraduate and graduate students will get $2,500 per year and $3,750 respectively.

The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) of America is the leading association for the construction industry with over 26,000 member firms. AGC provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members, thereby improving the quality of construction and protecting the public interest.

Eligibility:

The criterion to apply for undergraduate and graduate scholarship is given below:

Eligibility for Under Graduate Students:

  • Applicant must be a second-year student at a two-year school who is planning to transfer to a four-year program for the Fall 2017 term, or a rising college sophomore or junior in a four-year program or rising senior (for Fall 2017) in a five-year program
  • Junior and senior level applicants must have one full academic year of coursework remaining at the time of application deadline in the fall of 2016 term (i.e. earliest graduation date of December 2017)
  • High school seniors are not eligible
  • Applicant must desire a career in the construction industry
  • Applicant must be a full-time student
  • Applicant must be enrolled or intend to enroll in either an ABET or an ACCE accredited (or candidate status) program
  • Applicant must pursue a B.S. degree in construction or construction-related Engineering. A dual degree in construction or construction-related Engineering as one part is acceptable
  • Applicant must be a U. S. citizen or documented permanent resident of the United States (i.e. must possess a “permanent resident” card)
  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.0

Eligibility for Graduate Students:

  • Applicant must be either a college senior enrolled in an ABET or ACCE-accredited (or candidate status) construction or civil engineering program or a person possessing an undergraduate construction or civil engineering degree from such an accredited program
  • Applicants must also have at least one full academic year remaining at the time of application deadline in the fall of 2016 (i.e. earliest graduation date December 2017)
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or documented permanent resident of the U. S. (i.e. must possess a “permanent resident” card)
  • The applicant must be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student in a construction graduate degree program

Supporting Documents:

For Graduate Students:

  • One evaluation form completed by applicant’s college academic advisor or faculty member (these are completed online and faculty members are given one week’s grace period after the deadline but don’t delay).
  • One evaluation form completed by a recent employer of the applicant (also completed online with one week’s grace period).
  • Official or unofficial transcript of college grades

For Undergraduate Students:

  • Evaluation form completed (online) by college faculty member
  • Evaluation form completed (online) by an employment supervisor
  • Official or unofficial transcript of college grades. Unofficial transcripts are accepted if they clearly indicate the academic institution and student’s name. Text versions cut and pasted from the school’s website are not acceptable

Financial Aid and Award Amount:

  • For Undergraduates Students: The scholarships for undergraduates are $2,500 per year and can be renewed for up to three years.
  • For Graduate Students: The scholarship will be in the amount of $3,750 annually to be used for the Duration of the student’s graduate degree program, up to $7,500.

Application Deadline:

Applications must be submitted by midnight EST on November 1, 2016.
