The Arizona Educational Foundation would like to announce “The AEF Arizona Teacher of the Year Contest”. Applying for the contest you have completed at least four (4) full years as a classroom teacher at the time the application is submitted for consideration. The program is built to enhance the capabilities of Arizona’s schools, strengthen the teaching profession, design high-quality curricula, and stimulate high student achievement. The total award amount of the scholarship is $21,000.
The Arizona Educational Foundation fosters excellence in education by administering statewide programs that enhance the capabilities of Arizona’s schools to strengthen the teaching profession, design high-quality curricula, stimulate high student achievement, cultivate partnerships with schools and businesses, and celebrate the successes in K-12 public education in Arizona.
Eligibility:
To be considered, applicants must comply with all the following requirements:
- Spend the majority (over 50%) of the school day in direct instruction to students;
- Be certified to teach Pre-Kindergarten – 12th Grade (or combination) in Arizona at a state-accredited public school;
- Have completed at least four (4) full years as a classroom teacher at the time the application is submitted for consideration;
- Be a full-time teacher and plan to continue in an active teaching status through 2018;
- Not have been selected in as an AEF™ Teacher of the Year, Semifinalist or, Ambassador for Excellence in the past.

- Free professional development workshop at the Arizona Science Center’s CREATE (Maker Mindset: Learning by Doing or CREATE, Play, Hack: Game Design)
- Four Ambassadors for Excellence:
- $5,000 cash
- Partial scholarship (50%) to Argosy University/ Phoenix
- AZK12 Center Scholarship (Complimentary Coaching Saturdays, Summer Institute, Working Retreat)
- Professional speech and storytelling training
- Participation in Fiesta Bowl Parade on APS fire engine
- Free field trip to the Arizona Science Center (teachers can choose to build a customized package that includes CREATE)
- Five Semifinalists:
- $1,000 cash
- Partial scholarship (25%) to Argosy University/Phoenix
- AZK12 Center Teacher Leadership Institute registration
