Ryu Family Foundation (RFF) Scholarship

Ryu Family Foundation is pleased to offer its Scholarship Program to Korean-American students (US citizen), with at least 3.5-grade point average. The scholarship fund is designated to meet part or all of the expenses that a student is required to defray to his/her college/university. It provides financial assistance to the educational institutions directly operated by Korean immigrants for their educational programs. Award amount varies each year.

The Ryu Family Foundation was founded on December 29, 1994, with the vision to provide a financial assistance to Korean Americans.

Eligibility:

To qualify for the Ryu Family Foundation (RFF) scholarship grant, an applicant/student must be:

  • A Korean-American (US citizen) student or a Korean student (with or without the permanent resident status)
  • A full-time student working for an advanced degree — BA, BS, MA, MS, MBA, JD, MD, DDS, etc. at a legally approved college or university located in any one of the following 10 northeastern states of the United States: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine
  • A student with at least 3.5-grade point average, who is in need of financial assistance for his/her education
  • A student who is a legal resident of any one of the above 10 states who is studying full-time for an advanced degree at a legally approved college/university in a state of the United States
  • A student/applicant may repeatedly be allowed to receive the RFF scholarship grant, if qualified

Supporting Documents:

  • A 500-words essay (An essay is an integral part of the application and must be submitted)
  • A certificate/statement issued by his/her college/university showing his/her current student status. High School Seniors with plans to attend college in 2015-16 school year – You must include a copy of your acceptance letter
  • A transcript of academic records for the immediate prior academic year(s) issued by his/her college/university
  • A certificate of award, if any—a photocopy if an official certificate/statement from the sponsoring organization is not possible
  • Recommendation(s) by a professor of his/her college/university. If you’re applying as a graduating High School senior, an equivalent recommendation(s) by your High School teacher will be accepted.
  • A copy of FAFSA application (Student Aid Report – SAR) if you are a US citizen or Permanent Resident
  • A copy of parent’s last year’s tax return and yours. Note – Provide your return, if you filed a tax return for the past year.
  • Resumes or/and Introduction of yourself including your vision for life
