MƒA Early Career and Master Teacher Fellowship

The 2017 applications for the MƒA Early Career Fellowship and MƒA Master Teacher Fellowship are now open. Apply for one of MƒA’s fellowships for mathematics and science teachers. The fellowships offer an incredible array of resources and professional growth opportunities within a community of expert teachers who share a passion for science or mathematics. Qualified candidates must demonstrate knowledge and expertise of their content area, pedagogy, and knowledge of students, as well as a commitment to continued learning and collaboration.

Math for America (MƒA) Organization was founded in 2004 as an organization committed to teachers. MƒA teachers participate in and lead professional growth and enrichment opportunities throughout the year, ranging in focus from mathematics and science content to pedagogical practice and leadership. Below is a sample of our course offerings.

Eligibility:

  • You are eligible to apply for the MƒA Early Career Fellowship (Math)if you:
  1. Teach mathematics in a public middle or high school (the Early Career Fellowship is not open to elementary school teachers).
  2. By the start of 2017-2018 school year, have completed at least one year, but not more than three years, of full-time classroom mathematics teaching.
  3. Must be the mathematics teacher of record for a minimum of 80 percent of your teaching schedule.
  • You are eligible to apply for theMƒA Early Career Fellowship (Science) if you:
  1. Teach science in a public middle or high school (the Early Career Fellowship is not open to elementary school teachers).
  2. By the start of 2017-2018 school year, have completed at least one year, but not more than three years, of full-time classroom science teaching.
  3. Must be the science teacher of record for a minimum of 80 percent of your teaching schedule (all science courses must be student-credit bearing).

How to Apply:

  • For applying MƒA Early Career and Master Teacher Fellowship, you must take the appropriate Praxis Exam for your application subject area by the exam deadline.  See the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website for specific exam dates. The link is: https://www.ets.org/

Supporting Documents:

MƒA Master Teacher Fellowship

  1. A curriculum vitae (which should include any professional development or relevant conferences attended)
  2. Your most recent formal teacher observation report, signed by your supervisor
  3. Scanned copies of your transcripts (unofficial transcripts from all higher education institutions attended)
  4. The contact information for three references (supervisor, a colleague who can speak about your knowledge of students, and someone who can speak about your content knowledge)

 MƒA Early Career Fellowship

  1. A curriculum vitae (which should include any professional development or relevant conferences attended)
  2. Your most recent formal teacher observation report, signed by your supervisor
  3. The contact information for three references (supervisor, colleague at your school, and someone who can speak about your content knowledge)
  4. Scanned copies of your transcripts (unofficial transcripts from all higher education institutions attended)

Financial Aid and Award Money:

  • Up to $60,000 in stipends
  • A robust catalog of professional learning courses and workshops
  • Funding for conferences and materials

Application Deadline:

For MƒA Early Career and MƒA Master Teacher candidates, your application is then reviewed, and selected applicants are invited to an all-day in-person interview.

  • Early Career: Written Application Deadline is May 22
  • Master Teacher: Written Application Deadline is May 19
