Just Poetry Scholarship

Just Poetry the National Poetry Quarterly is just for the American High School Poet and the American High School Poetry Teacher. Just Poetry is offering the scholarship program for U.S. high school students. The aim of scholarship is to find poets who are passionate about the subject matter about which they are writing. There is no entry fee and no purchase of any kind is required to enter or win the contest.

The goal of Just Poetry Organization is to share that passion, that fire, that explosive energy, that bare nerve exposed to the world.

Eligibility:

All U.S. high school students are eligible to enter this contest.

How to Apply:

For applying the scholarship, the candidates must submit the poem. The candidates must follow the given guideline:

  • Poems must be 20 lines or less (title and spaces between stanzas do not count), unpublished, the sole work of the entrant, and not be entered in any other concurrent contest.
  • Only poems written in the English language can be judged.
  • Foreign phrases are acceptable only with a translation provided.
  • Only ONE poem per poet may be entered during any 90 day span.

Submitting Details:

  • E-mail entries may be sent to: entry-at-highschoolpoetrycontest.com. Please don’t forget to include your name, full mailing address, name of school, graduating year, and name of your English or writing teacher.
  • To enter in the traditional manner, type your one poem entry on 8.5 X 11 inch paper. Include your name, full mailing address, name of school, graduating year, and name of your English or writing teacher in the top right hand corner of the page. Prepare a self-addressed, stamped envelope and send it to the given address:

Award Amount:

  • The Easterday Poetry Award of a $500.00 college scholarship will be awarded to the American High School Poets, “Poet of the Year”.
  • In addition there will be 4 “Best of Issue” Winners ($500 scholarship prize, 1 selected each quarter) and 4 Editor’s Choice Selections ($100 scholarship prize, 1 selected each quarter).
  • There will also be hundreds of “JUST POETRY”and Topical Winners.
  • All winning poems will be published.

Application Deadline:

Application deadline are as follows:

  • September 30 for the Winter issue
  • December 31 for the Spring issue
