The Three Types Of Eagle Scout Scholarships

There are three various types of scholarships available through the Eagle Scouts. Here they are below:

Academic Scholarships

This particular scholarship is academic, and it’s evaluated by school and scouting participation, academics, and monetary need.

The educational scholarships consist of a variety of awards that pay out differently. There are up to four $25,000 scholarships which are paid at $6,250 each year for four years; one $48,000 scholarship paid up to $12,000 per year for four years; and a $50,000 STEM scholarship for an Eagle in the science, engineering, math, or technology field.

Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships evaluate school and scouting participation, academic performance, and community service.

The funding covers the $2,000 and $4,000 Bailey scholarships, the $5,000 Hall/McElwain scholarship, and the $2,5000 Rober and Rebeca Palmer scholarship. Additionally, it includes the Adams Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year.

NESA World Explorer

This is a field study scholarship that evaluated school participation, academic performance, and involvement in the community. The funding varies by opportunity, but cover most of the expense such as accommodation, travel, registration for certain NESA World Explorer research getaways. Also, the NESA World Explorer field research trips are held around the world during a span of one to two weeks.

The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting Scholarship

The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting provides two scholarships to students who are enlisted in an accredited high school, and in their final year. The winner for first place will get $1,000 and the runner-up will receive $500 upon acceptance to a four-year accredited college or university.

Howard Hill Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund

Howard Hill Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund is administered by the Community Foundation of Louisville. The scholarships are $1,000 per semester of enrollment up to a maximum of 12 semesters ($12,000). New applicants must submit this application by May 1 of their high school senior year and be enrolled in high school. Renewing applicants must submit this application by May 31 or the institution’s school year for consideration of an award for the next fall semester.

Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout Scholarship

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) established the Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout Scholarship to be awarded to six outstanding high school Catholic seniors who are Scouts in a BSA program and continuing their education in college. The Doerr family and the NCCS are continuing his legacy by offering $2,000 scholarships in his name to six distinguished Catholic Scouts. Applications are due to the NCCS office by March 1 of each year.

Scout of the Year Scholarship

The Veterans of Foreign Wars recognizes annually Eagle Scouts, Venture Silver Award recipients or Sea Scout Quartermasters who have risen above their peers in exemplifying the exceptional qualities of that rank with a $5,000 scholarship. Candidates must be exceptional in all six of the critical elements of healthy youth development as defined by The Louis Harris & Associates, Inc.

The National Eagle Scout Association Scholarships

The National Eagle Scout Association offers two types of Eagle Scout scholarships. NESA academic scholarship applicants must be Eagle Scouts applying during their senior year of high school. These include a varying number of $5,000 NESA scholarships and a varying number of $5,000 Mabel and Lawrence S. Cooke scholarships. Scouts whose Eagle Scout boards of review are held after October 31 of their senior year may apply during the next scholarship cycle in the following year even though they may be in college by this time.

Arthur M. &Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest

The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) invites all Eagle Scouts interested in the American Revolution to participate in the Arthur M. &Berdena King Eagle Scout Award. The contest is open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and have not reached their nineteenth birthday during the year of application. The competition is conducted in three phases, local (Chapter), State (Society), and National. Three cash awards are given: the NaPlace receives$10,000, the Runner-up receives $6,000, and the 2nd Runner-up receives $4,000.

Girl Scouts Scholarship for Gold Award Scouts: $5,000, Girl Scouts Scholarship for Silver Award Scouts: $4,000, Girl Scouts Scholarship: $3,000, Troop Leader Scholarship: $1,000, One Time Only. The Aggie Eagle Program (AEP)

The Aggie Eagle Program (AEP) offers high school juniors and seniors and transfer students who are Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout Gold Award, Camp Fire Wohelo Award, or American Heritage Girls Stars and Stripes Award recipients a first-hand experience with the Corps of Cadets.AEP is offered once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester.

The Eagle Scout/Gold Award Scholarship

Students must be accepted to Waynesburg University in order to qualify. Eagle Scout and Gold Award recipients can receive up to $2,000 over the course of four years ($500/year) for their accomplishment within Scouting. Send in your Eagle Scout or Gold Award documentation along with your admissions application and you may qualify for a scholarship! The IPM Crop Scouting Competition

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Integrated Pest Management program is hosting the sixth annual Crop Scouting Competition for Iowa Youth. The purpose of the contest is to provide students an opportunity to learn crop scouting and principles of IPM for corn and soybean and to obtain knowledge and skills helpful in future careers related to agricultural and environmental sciences.
