Josephine De Karman Fellowship

The Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust is glad to announce Josephine De Karman Fellowship. The fellowship provides an opportunity for students who are currently enrolled in a university or college located within the United States.The purpose of the program is to recognize and assist students whose scholastic achievements reflect Professor Von Karman’s high standards.Fellowship offers $22,000 amount for graduate students and $14,000 amount for undergraduate students.

The Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust was established in 1954 by the late Dr. Theodore von Karman. The mission of the Trust is to recognize and assist students whose scholastic achievements reflect Professor Von Karman’s high standards.

Eligibility:

To qualify for a 2017-2018 fellowship:

  • You must be currently enrolled at a US university and either be a senior undergraduate student (will receive Bachelor’s Degree in June 2018)
  • Candidates must be in the final year of a Ph.D. program (will defend dissertation in June 2018)
  • Master’s degree students and postdoctoral scholars do not qualify for the fellowship.

Supporting Documents:

To be considered for a fellowship, you must also submit the  following documents:

  • Transcripts of your graduate and undergraduate studies at institutions in the United States and Canada
  • Two letters of recommendation- Each letter of recommendation must be in a sealed envelope with the signature of the letter writer across the outside flap.
  • Mandatory Statement of Intellectual Interest
  • Submit a CV or other pertinent information

Financial Aid and Award Money:

  • Approximately eight (8) fellowships, $22,000 for graduate students
  • $14,000 for undergraduate students will be awarded for the regular academic year (fall and spring semesters or the equivalent where the quarterly system prevails)
  • Stipend will be paid through the fellowship office of the university in which the recipient is enrolled for study in the United States
  • Study must be carried out only in the United States and all funds must be expended only within this country

Application Deadline:

The application must be postmarked no later than midnight, January 31, 2017.
