The Illinois Hispanic Nurses Association (IHNA) is awarding the scholarship for the members of IHNA who are enrolled in accredited nursing programs. The number of scholarships offered each year is dependent upon the amount in the scholarship fund. This year the foundation will be awarding $10,000 in Nursing Scholarships.
IHNA is dedicated to the personal and professional development of Hispanic nurses in Illinois and actively seeks opportunities to create impact in healthcare in the communities they serve.
Eligibility:
- IHNA members enrolled in accredited nursing programs
- Who demonstrate a promise of professional contributions to the nursing profession
- Who have the potential to act as role models for other aspiring nursing students
How to Apply:
For applying the scholarship, the candidates must fill the application form. The form can be downloaded by the link:

Supporting Documents:
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from two faculty members outlining the applicant’s future professional contribution to the nursing profession and potential to act as a role model for other aspiring nursing students
- An essay, 400 words or less (using Times New Roman – 12 font), written by the student that reflects their qualifications and potential for leadership in nursing. The essay topic is: “Please review IHNA’s Core Values below and identify how your experiences and goals are aligned with the mission of IHNA and how it relates to the changes occurring in healthcare today”
- A resume, which includes earned certificates, awards, community service and special honors
- Provide one page essay that includes: a discussion of economic needs; delineates monthly income and expenses, estimates of educational expenses, including any other financial aid for the year requested.
- An official transcript from applicant’s college, university, or Nursing Program
- Academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred)
