RTDNF Pete Wilson Journalism Scholarship

The Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF) is now offering the Pete Wilson Journalism Scholarship honors the late Pete Wilson, a San Francisco television and radio journalist.The scholarship is granted to an undergraduate or graduate journalism student from the San Francisco Bay area or attending a college or university in the Bay Area who shares Wilson’s commitment to ethical, responsible journalism.  RTDNF offers professional development opportunities for working and aspiring journalists and journalism educators. The recipient of the Pete Wilson Journalism Scholarship will receive $2,000 and an invitation to the Excellence in Journalism conference.

Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF), a 501 (c) 3 educational foundation was founded by Colonel Barney Oldfield. RTDNF offers the electronic news community professional development opportunities, an open forum for the discussion of ethics, assistance with the development of leadership skills, support of First Amendment issues and the exchange of ideas and perspectives from electronic journalists worldwide.

Eligibility:

To eligible, the applicant must meet the entire following requirement:

  • Must be from or studying in the San Francisco Bay area
  • Students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded, pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism
  • Winners must be officially enrolled, full-time undergraduate students good standing when scholarships are awarded
  • Students may apply for only one RTDNF scholarship, and past RTDNF scholarship winners are not eligible.

Complete the online applications form, including:

  • Experience
  • URL links to 3-5 work samples
  1. Work samples should be broadcast (television/radio) or online news pieces
  2. Work samples should be uploaded to a host site like YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, etc.

Upload the supplemental materials:

  • Cover letter
  1. Discuss your current and past journalism experience
  2. Describe how you intend to use the funds
  3. Discuss your choice to pursue a career in journalism
  4. Addressed to RTDNF Scholarship Committee
  • Resume
  • Letter of recommendation

Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF) is now offering $2000 for the Pete Wilson Journalism Scholarship and providing an invitation to the Excellence in Journalism conference.
