Luther and Mary Ida Vandross Scholarship

The Philadelphia Foundation is pleased to offer scholarship named as “Luther and Mary Ida Vandross Scholarship”. To be applying for the scholarship you must be enrolled in a 4-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Scholarships from this fund will be awarded to assist students in their pursuit to graduate from a historically black college or university. Five scholarships up to $50,000 award amount will be given to the winning candidate.

The Philadelphia Foundation is the community foundation that serves the Greater Philadelphia community. The five primary counties served are Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Chester County, Pennsylvania, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the United States, awarding more than $20 million in annual grants from more than 800 charitable funds.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Enrolled in a 4-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
  • Be in their 3rd, 4th or 5th year of study leading to an undergraduate degree
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have a 2.5 GPA or better
  • Must be a resident of Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, or New York
