AAPD NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is proud to announce eight (8) scholarships through this year’s NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship Program. This scholarship has been named in honor of Tony Coelho, a former United States Representative from California and the primary author and sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).The scholarships will be available to students with disabilities pursuing communications or media-related degrees in 2016. Each recipient will receive $5,625 to help cover the cost of education at their current college or university.

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is a convener, connector, and catalyst for change, increasing the political and economic power of people with disabilities.

Eligibility:

  • Any 2nd year associate’s degree student, undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior or graduate student who self-identifies as an individual with any type of disability.
  • Students must be interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry – all majors are welcome to apply.

How to Apply:

The candidates can apply for the given scholarship either on-line or offline.

Supporting Documents:

Applicants must submit the following items.

  • Completed application
  • Resume
  • Unofficial transcript (for the degree you are currently pursuing)
  • Three (3) 300-350 word essays (topics provided on application)
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor, academic advisor, or mentor

Award Amount:

The NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship will offer eight (8) scholarships. Each recipient will receive $5,625 to help cover the cost of education at their current college or university.
